For those in the healthcare field that need to get certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Dr J CPR USA has blended courses that are official American Heart Association certified. That means you take the online portion which consists of a series of videos and the certification exam. Upon passing the certification exam, you receive a certificate of completion that you take to an official American Heart Association certified instructor for your skills test.
The difference between the blended option and the instructor-led course is the instructor-led course lasts for about 4 to 6 hours in a classroom. With the blended option, you can go through the video lessons in about 1 to 2 hours and take the exam. You can also take the exam as many times as needed until you pass (a minimum of 80%). Then the in-person skills test will only take about 1 to 2 hours with your certified AHA instructor. If you are local to South Florida, you can have Dr. Jay Hershman conduct your in-person skills test at the Hershman Medical Center in Miami, FL. The cost for the in-person skills session is just $65 for the BLS certification. For the ACLS and PALS certification, the in-person skills session is $60.
