What You Need to Know About Your CPR Certification Class?

What is your Purpose of taking the CPR Course?

As humans, many of us want to take up the course just to help save lives. Because accidents and tragedies can strike anywhere at any time, and anyone trained in lifesaving procedures can provide the help immediately. This can mean life or death a victim.

Your purpose of taking up the course is extremely important because you need to figure out if you’re going to be doing this professionally or are just taking up training to help someone in need whenever required, or you may have a friend or relative in a condition where he/she often gets cardiac arrests.

Are you looking to take your class in-person or online?

Today, there are several methods of taking certification courses. You can either take the traditional method of learning where you are face-to-face with an instructor or you can take the online course.

The thing is, when it comes to medical courses like this one, it is always better to take up the traditional method of learning because you get hands-on experience with case studies and instructors can help you in figuring out the correct positions and postures for following the correct way of performing compressions and rescue breaths.

Of course you can take up the online course as well if you face time or distance constraints. The traditional method is, however, the preferred course.

Is Taking My Course Online Acceptable?

First, you do need to keep in mind that OSHA standards do not accept online-only certifications for employees that are required to have CPR training. Many employers, especially in healthcare organizations, accept only a certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Those cannot be obtained by online-exclusive training.

When getting certified in CPR, BLS, ACLS, or HeartSaver, there are two parts. The first part is the online course taken directly from the American Heart Association. This online course takes about an hour to complete. When you complete that course, you will get a certificate from the American Heart Association. You will then bring that certificate to Dr. J CPR for your in-person skills training session.

Now, we do have options available for those that prefer to do the whole certification class in-person. For example, you can choose the “HeartSaver (CPR AED) course without online course.” In this case, you will be spending the entire 3-4 hour classroom time with Dr. Jay Hershman as your instructor to get your certification.

Typically, our students take the course online at the American Heart Association, and then schedule their appointment for the in-person skills training with Dr. Jay.

However, just keep in mind that only some certifications are more accepted in hospitals and medical health care centers, while some places like veterinarians and sports training centers are more accepting and open to candidates from most institutes. Certifications from The American Heart Association accepted globally.
